Properties Of Luck In Backgammon
All backgammon players roll the dice quite a number of times in a game. Most players of backgammon depend on luck to make the roll right. So, is there a quantification of luck in every match of backgammon? And how can one player of backgammon measure luck?
First let us take a look at the properties of luck in backgammon:
1. The net luck is the most important quantity.
Your net luck can actually cancel the net luck of your opponent. One way or the other, in the game of backgammon one player can be lucky while the other is not. This is luck in balance. It cannot take both sides.
2. The proper units are: money for money play and winning match chances for match play.
Luck can equal to higher counts when the cube is rolled.
3. If you are in a game, you should expect your luck to be at zero, no matter how you play backgammon.
Your game cannot dictate the level of your luck. If you are losing the game this doesn't mean that you can't be lucky enough to win, you might still win with a few twists of the game.
Consequences of measuring luck:
1. In every match that has been won luck is always involved. If there are serious errors, the player is considered unlucky as well.
2. If you have the worst position in the game you need a lot of luck to win the match and if you lose you had bad luck on your side.
3. We can consider that the lucky players are the stronger ones than weak players. Even the strong player needs luck to win the game since a strong player can lose too.
4. Other considers that a forced roll is a sign of good luck, either way you can still play with forced roll perfectly.
5. A lucky player is the one manipulating the dice to their own advantage.
In conclusion, a game of backgammon is based on luck and skills. A good appreciation of luck is not bad at all. Rolling the dice needs luck; players must have the highest number rolls to get advantage over the game.
A winning player at backgammon is considered to be a lucky player, but a lucky player does not necessarily mean that he or she is guaranteed to win the game. Luck changes constantly. An unlucky player does not mean that he can't win the game, he still has a chance to win if he or she is lucky enough.
But remember the old adage; "The more you practice the luckier you'll get."
